What makes Chemex paper filters special?
Chemex filters are 20-30% heavier and thicker than conventional filter paper. The special, fine-pored paper prevents suspended solids and oils that occur naturally in coffee from entering your coffee during brewing. This gives coffee from the Chemex a particularly aromatic, nuanced and non-bitter taste. Often, the natural sweetness of the coffee even comes to the fore. It's not without reason that we consider the Chemex to be a preparation method in its own right!
How to use Chemex filters
When using pre-folded Chemex filters for coffee preparation, first open the filter so that it takes on the shape of a bag. There should be three layers of paper on one side of the filter and only one layer on the other. Now place the bag in the Chemex filter holder so that the three-layer side is directly at the spout of the carafe. Now just rinse with hot water, add coffee, and start brewing.
