Warmth, From the Farm to Your Cup

Hendra feels like a quiet afternoon while snow gently falls – a moment just for you. Forest honey and blackcurrant meet notes of dried fruit and cocoa. Let the gentle spice of this Indonesian Arabica wrap around you, while its lively acidity awakens your senses.

Indonesian Coffee, Reimagined

The Panta Musara region in Aceh Tengah, Indonesia, is best known for traditional wet-hulled coffees. But Hendra, the farmer behind this exceptional Arabica, and his family are changing that story. Since 2010, their curiosity, dedication, and expertise have created outstanding specialty coffees that redefine Indonesia’s coffee landscape.

Today, Hendra and his family run a small, specialized washing station equipped with pulpers, washing channels, and solar-covered drying beds. The cherries are pulped, sorted in water channels, and fermented for 12–18 hours in concrete tanks. They are then dried for 8–14 days on raised beds, depending on the weather.

Before export, the coffee passes through two density tables and two rounds of hand-sorting to ensure only the best beans make it into the bag. About 40 tons of green coffee are produced here each year – grown at 1,650 meters and known for their clarity and purity. A testament to Hendra’s precision and passion.

A Family Project Built on Vision, Community, and Quality

Hendra’s story begins with his father, Hamdan, who moved from Banda Aceh to Pegasing in 2006 to grow coffee. Hendra grew up among the plants and turned the small family farm into a hub for innovation and collaboration. Today, around 70 local farmers deliver their ripe cherries to his washing station.

Hendra pays fair prices and bonuses for exceptional picking quality, even offering extra compensation for long transport routes – encouraging careful harvesting practices.
But his impact goes beyond that: in his own coffee nursery, he cultivates heirloom varieties like Abyssinia – one of the earliest coffees brought to Indonesia. By working closely with surrounding farmers, Hendra helps preserve genetic diversity, produces excellent specialty coffees, and inspires his community to grow with him.

Tips for Preparation

For this medium roast, pour over (e.g. Hario V60) works beautifully. The AeroPress or a classic filter coffee machine will also bring out the coffee’s depth and clarity – perfect for calm, cozy moments.

Hendra shows how much warmth, skill, and character can live in every bean. This washed Indonesian coffee offers sweet and spicy moments of calm – celebrating craftsmanship, fairness, and the courage to do things differently.
