While the standard C5 Pro is an excellent grinder designed for filter coffee, the C5 ESP Pro was specifically developed to meet the demands of espresso preparation. The abbreviation “ESP” stands for “Espresso” and offers a significantly finer grind setting. This gives you the precision you need to unlock the full potential of your beans, even at the finest grind settings.
The Heart of the Machine: The S2C-042-III Grinder
The Timemore C5 ESP Pro features a highly advanced stainless steel grinder (Spike-to-Cut). What makes it special: In the first step, the beans are “cracked” at the top and only then precisely “cut.” This significantly minimizes fines (microscopic coffee particles that cause bitterness) and produces a particularly clean flavor profile.
Precise Adjustment: The New ESP Level
To find the optimal grind size for your espresso – so that water flows through the coffee grounds neither too fast nor too slow (“dialing in”) – you need maximum control. That’s exactly what the ESP upgrade offers:
- Twice as precise (0.015 mm per click): While the C5 Pro version adjusts the grind setting by 0.031 mm per click, the ESP version halves this value to a minuscule 15 micrometers (0.015 mm). This allows you to make adjustments in the finest increments.
- Finer increments: With 10 macro steps per rotation and a total of 50 clicks, the adjustment wheel on the ESP version offers you immense control in the delicate espresso range.
